Amritsar, November 5
A piquant situation arose when the Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee today forcibly removed the holy book amid recitation from a temple at Dhal village in this border district and placed it in a gurdwara at Daleri village.

Mata Sunita Devi while talking to the media said the villagers had been conducting the path of Sukhmani Sahib for the past 35 years to celebrate the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. She said Sakatar Singh, granthi, was reciting the path as per the Sikh religious maryada.

She added that they had asked the committee members to remove the holy book after the path was completed.

Mata Sunita Devi said it was improper to take away the holy book while the path of Sukhmani Sahib was going on to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.

However, committee members Trilochan Singh, Dilbagh Singh and Baldev Singh said they were just following the hukamnama issued by the Jathedar, Akal Takht, Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti, in this regard.
