Students turn newsreaders for a day
Ludhiana, November 25 The school today organised an ‘Inter-School Newsreading Competition’ in which the schools from in and around Ludhiana participated with enthusiasm. In all, there were over 15 Schools that participated under separate categories for English, Hindi and Punjabi. The news was telecast on televisions installed in various areas in the school and the judges were evaluating the newsreaders on the basis of their ‘studio’ presentations. The whole event had an extra flavour of professionalism and the judges - Ms. Pratibha Goel (Senior Professor, PAU), Mr U.K. Shanda (Chief Editor Equalitarian), Ms Sadhna Sharma (Principal, Sanatan Vidya Mandir), Mr Sameer Kaushal (Chief Editor-Citi Cable), Mr Ashwani Jetlay (Chief of Bureau, Ajit Samachar), Mr Surjeet Bhagat (Film & T V Reporter, Daily Ajit)- were all appreciation for such wonderous opportunities to the children of schools Ms Jaishree Gupta, Principal, said she was happy at the response that the schools had given to the event and had decided to make this particular competition an annual feature. |

Guru
Tegh Bahadur's teachings remembered Our Correspondent Ludhiana, November 25 As many as 120 children of a school, run under Sarab Shikhsha Ahhyan of' the government, were given sweaters.These children belonged to the lowest strata of society and were among the most deprived. A quiz on the life and teachings of the Guru was also held and the children presented ‘shabads’ from Gurbani. BCM Senior Secondary School, Focal Point, held its annual function
here today which was presided by Mr Omparkash Munjal of Hero Cycles.
The chief guest was the Vice-Chancellor of the Arya Kanya Gurukul, Mr
Sadanand Munjal. Principal Mehta higlighted the activities undertaken by
the school in the past 10 years .
Students presented a beautiful cultural programme and the meritorious
among them were given Rs 1,000 each. Founders' day
celebrated
The school management, staff, along with the students of Gupta Model
High School, celebrated its ‘Founder's Day’ here today in the memory
of late Principal, Mr Surinder Gupta.
After ‘jyoti prajwalan’, an inter-house declamation contest was
held. The students presented a grand cultural programme comprising
dances and skits. an art and craft exhibition was also put up showcasing
the creative talent of the students which was appreciated by one and

Contest held
The Ved Prachar Mandal held a ‘Vedic Declamation Contest’ in DAV
Public School here today under the management of Mr Roshan Lal Arya.
The first prize was won by Priyanka sharma of DAV Public School while
the second prize was bagged jointly by Gaurav Madan of BCM School, Udham
Singh Nagar and Abhishek Gupta of BVM, Kitchlu Nagar.
The third prize went to Samiksha of KVM School and Manpreet Kaur of
GGN Khalsa Public School. The consolation prize went to Simran Arora of
Guru Nanak International School. Sanatan High holds
annual fest
Sanatan High School celebrated its annual day and prize distribution
day here today.
Mr Avinash Rai Khanna, MP and president of Punjab Pradesh Bhartiya
Janta Party, lit the lamp and traditional ‘Saraswati pujan’ was
performed.
The chief guest appreciated the cultural programme and gave away the
prizes to the meritorious students. |
Lions Club holds impressive function
Jagraon, November 25 The new team for the year 2006-2007, with Mr Vinod Goyal as its president, was installed by MJF Lion H.J.S. Khera, vice-district governor. Mr Khera administered an oath to work for downtrodden people of the society and further to carry new projects to create image of Lionism. Lion Kamalinder K. Singla, past distt governor, inducted two new members whereas Lion R.K. Rana, distt governor, presided over the function Mr Bhag Singh Mallah, MLA, the guest of honour blessed the new team and assured cooperation. Awards were also given to the members. |
