Akalis beat the Congress...’ screamed the headlines. Not in elections, because the Assembly elections are still a couple of months away. It was only a caption for the photograph of a huge crowd published by the publicity wing of the party concerned.

One day one finds in newspapers photograph of a mammoth rally by the Congress and the next day the Akalis contest the authenticity of the picture saying the picture of the crowd was created digitally.

The contest at the moment is only to show which party can gather a bigger crowd at its rally or road shows. I don’t know whether the parties will gain anything out of this, but the crowd suppliers are definitely laughing all the way to the bank.

The Congress government is spending crores of public money in projecting their achievements. Capt Amarinder Singh recently stated that Parkash Singh Badal should get the number of his spectacles corrected if he could not see the progress made during the Congress regime. If spectacles could make such a difference then the Chief Minister should provide special spectacles to all unemployed youths so that they may see more job opportunities.

When Capt Amarinder Singh gave a Rs-1000 note to a child during his Vikas Yatra, one of the advisors whispered in his ear, "Sir, what have you done. The child hasn’t even got a vote yet."
