Temperatures below normal in Punjab, Haryana

Rainfall: Weather was dry over the region. Temperature: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures rose in east Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. Departure: They were appreciably above normal in east Rajasthan, above normal in west Uttar Pradesh, below normal in Haryana, Punjab and east Uttar Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 3 degree Celsius recorded at Sarsawa (Uttar Pradesh). Forecast (valid until the morning of December 1): Weather will be mainly dry over the region. Low temperature warning: Ground frost is likely at a few places in Haryana, Punjab and northern parts of west Uttar Pradesh during the next two nights. Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood (valid until the morning of December 1): Mainly clear sky. Mist in the morning. Minimum temperature will be around 7 degree Celsius. Outlook for the subsequent two days: No large change.

Cold wave continues in region
Chandigarh, November 29
A cold wave continued to sweep parts of north-west India following further drop in the mercury, hovering one degree to four degrees below normal at many places in the region today.Certain areas in the region, including Sarsawa, were enveloped in fog which, however, cleared as the day advanced. Ambala, Amritsar, Bathinda, Ludhiana and Halwara experienced mist, while Chandigarh, Karnal and Jammu reported haze in the morning. People groaned under a piercing cold wave in Punjab as the temperature stayed low. The Minimum temperature further dipped to 3.2°C at Adampur, near Jalandhar, turning it the coldest place in the state. The minimum
temperature hovered four degrees below normal at Ludhiana recording 4.8 degrees celsius. Patiala registered 6.0°C three degrees below normal, and Amritsar 5.6°C one degree down. The minimum also plummeted in Haryana with Narnaul recording 5.0°C and stayed three degrees below normal at Ambala and Karnal respectively showing 5.4 degrees and 7 degrees. Several areas in Himachal Pradesh, including the entire tribal belt, reeled under a severe cold wave. The minimum temperature hovered below the freezing point in the tribal areas.
