‘I’ll anchor KBC in my style’ New Delhi, December 4 He added that: “With all humility I would like to add that I will try to do this show in my own style and all I ask is that you allow me to do this and enjoy it for that.” Shah Rukh added: “I am really employed by the audience and unfortunately because of being too busy I do not get to interact much with them. However, the KBC has offered me a bigger chance to be in touch with the audience and this is the real reason why I have chosen to work for it.” KBC was re-launched at a function here. CEO Star Entertainment India Sameer Nair announced the launch saying: “We are delighted to bring the KBC alive once again. We are equally excited to have Shah Rukh Khan at the helm of the show in its new — ‘GenNext’ avatar. Shah Rukh is undoubtedly the ‘reigning king’ of Indian cinema. His wit, charm, energy and style, coupled with the solid foundation of the show will come together to give the audiences an extraordinary viewing experience.” The new version of the series will be produced by its old hand, Siddhartha Basu’s Synergy Communications. Shah Rukh, however, made it clear that he had no political plans whatsoever and was “apolitical”. The star added that if he was following in Amitabh Bachchan’s footsteps, it was completely unintentional. He also countered his reputation of being an extremely “urban hero” saying: “Just by virtue of the fact that I’ve been working in mass-communications for so long gets the audience used to me. People have called me an ‘urban hero’ but for 12 years there has been a consistency in my performance. Most women, mothers and children from any section of Indian society relate to me easily and do like me.” |
