Ajay gets the better of Abishek
Chandigarh, January 10 Singla was trailing by 4-0 but managed to make it 4-4 at the end of the 8th track. Abishek grabbed two straight racks making the score 6-4 in his favour. With just one rack needed to win the match, Abishek looked quite comfortable. But it was Singla who restored himself back in the match by some brilliant show making the score 6-6. In the last rack, he took advantage and won the match 7-6. In another encounter, Sumit Talwar beat Shaleen Anand 7-5. Sumit had a tough time tackling Anand who was in good form. At 5 racks apiece it was anybody’s game but with the scratch in the 11th rack, Sumit faced no difficulty in clearing the table. The 12th rack also belonged to Sumit who eventually won the match. Jaswinder Singh defeated Rajan Sharma 7-5 in the third match. After the 10th rack, the score was 6-4 in favour of Jaswinder. Rajan managed to crawl back by winning the next rack and taking the score to 5-6. But in the next rack, Jaswinder got an opportunity to clear the table only and win the match 7-5. In the next match, Manav Dhawan toppled Dinesh 7-3. Dinesh looked quite comfortable at the start of the match but soon gave up to Manav’s sensible approach. Anil Sharma was of no match to the exuberant Parmod Binta. In this one-sided encounter, Sharma easily won the match 7-1. In the last encounter, Divya Sharma got the better of Arpit Seth 7-2. |

Horse riding competition from Jan 17
Chandigarh, January 10 The competition, which will be held at St. John’s school grounds on January 17, is open to all students of Chandigarh schools and CHRS members, under the age of 18. There will be three age groups - eight years and under, eight to 12, and 12 to 18. Forty
five children have confirmed participation from several leading schools in the city. Events include a course of seven jumps of varying heights and difficulties, a trotting race, a “ball and bucket” race, and a race weaving through pole/barrel obstacles. |

Sarthak scripts win in third match of Jal trophy
Chandigarh, January 10 GCA thrashed Stepping Stone Cricket Academy by 9 wickets. Batting first, Stepping Stones Academy scored paltry 119 runs in 27.3 overs as their batsmen could not face the excellent bowling spell by Sarthak and Kinderpreet. Sidharth made the maximum 29 followed by Kulbhushan and Devinder, who made 24 and 17, respectively. Sarthak and Kinderpreet took 3 wickets each conceding 24 and 28 runs, respectively. While chasing a target of 120, Sarthak (48 n.o) and Sahil (22) shared a valuable 66-run partnership for the first wicket. Next came Tejus, who contributed an unbeaten 14 runs. GCA achieved the target in just 17.2 overs losing one wicket. Stadium XI and Green field cricket Academy reached the semi-finals from group A. The tournament is being organised by MCM Blue Caps Cricket Academy. MCM Blue Caps Cricket Academy will take on A.P. Jay School tomorrow at 10.30 a m.
