Mohali, January 15 The play directed by G.S. Channi was peopled by characters like “pollution king”, the smug 21st century, the triumphant and sneering tetra pack, polythene and plastic, gloating over their immorality. The character “Zindagi” is wandering around, looking for fresh air, which is plagued and pursued by pollution. The play was full of humour and fun. The play depicted the excessive release of various chemicals, biological and radioactive contaminants into environment, which are causing a disastrous situation in the form of ever increasing environment pollution. In the end, Col Bawa (retd), Director, Golden Bells Public School, thanked the company and asked students that they must unite to attack this demon of pollution. Story telling: Euro Kids School organised a story telling session here today. Poonam Singh, a noted thespian and connected to the famous publication Preetlari family, enthralled over 150 tiny tots with anecdotes and stories. She said children of this age wanted to touch and feel the puppets whose stories were told. With a hat on her head and puppets in hands, she interacted with the students for over two hours. Ms Sangeet Growar, Principal of the school, said, “Story telling is a form of enhancing the students personalities and the values can easily be taught to them through this method”. |

The scheme helps their professional growth by enabling teachers to devote maximum time for research and study with minimum teaching responsibilities. City doc’s works in foreign text book
Chandigarh, January 15 Dr Syngle’s write-up has been published as a full chapter “Arthritis and its treatment” in the book. The chapter is based on his rich experiences in clinical expertise on arthritis with clinical photographs and it dispels several related myths and discusses the state of the art treatments available for the disease. He has also emphasised the need for a good supportive treatment for arthritis patients comprising adequate nutrition, appropriate exercises and stress management. The publishers have also mentioned the website created by Dr Syngle for the arthritis patients. Singapore-based World Scientific Publishers had also published a chapter authored by Dr Syngle. The chapter was about the methods of dealing with the treatment of hypertension, coronary artery disease, stroke, osteoporosis and osteoarthritis in 2005. |

Ankit’s knock helps DAV enter final
Mohali, January 15 In the first match, DAV batted first and piled up 261 runs all out in 48 overs. Ankit Kaushik played a key role with his brilliant 129 in 129 balls. Sandeep Dangi was the other notable scorer with his 28 runs. Gagandeep Singh and Akhil Aggarwal claimed three wickets each for 32 and 48 runs, respectively. Chasing the target, the KVM, Ludhiana, could make 160 for 8 in 50 overs. Akhil Aggarwal made 63 followed by Gitansh Khera 39. Rahul Chara was the wrecker-in-chief with 5 for 10. Soraab Singh took 2 for 15. In the second match, batting first after wining the toss GMS were 168 all out in 48.4 overs. Sandeep Singh was the highest scorer with 57 in 96 balls. Lakhwinder brings laurels to DAV School
Chandigarh, January 15 Laskhwinder won the gold medal in 800 m race and a silver medal each in the category of 1500 mts and 5000 mts in boys under-19 category. Besides Lakhwinder, Yesuraj,Avinash and Surbhi also participated at C.B.S.E National level held at Jamshedpur from January 5 to 7. Yesuraj won a silver medal in 100 mts boys under-16 category while Avinash Misra clinched a silver medal each in 400 mts race and long jump in boys under-14 category. In girls Under-19 section, Surbhi Devgan got fourth position in high jump. |
