Technologists deliver
lectures on lab diagnosis
Mohali, January 20 Dr Ashok V. Chordiya, Medical Director, Fortis Hospital, inaugurated the function.Mr A. R. Deshmukh, national president, AIMLTA, and faculty members from different hospitals in and around Chandigarh were also present. The scientific programme saw a gathering of more than 100 delegates, who listened to lectures delivered by laboratory technologists from Fortis Hospital, GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh, Government Multispeciality Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh, and the PGI, Chandigarh. According to Dr Pankaj Kaul, organising secretary and state secretary, AIMLTA, Chandigarh, the programme provided a scientific information resource in virtually all aspects of biomedical laboratory sciences relevant to patient care, health promotion and disease diagnosis. This would further help medical laboratory technology professionals in laboratory diagnosis for better patient care. |

100 colony No. 5 residents tested for blood sugar
Chandigarh, January 20 At the one-day health camp the volunteers along with experts conducted blood tests on the residents of the colony and distributed medicines free of cost. Advice regarding iron-deficiency and ways to curb anaemia was also given. Meanwhile, the Postgraduate Department of Commerce of SGGS College, Sector 26, organised a seminar at the college today. Dr Kuldeep Singh, Principal of the college, inaugurated the seminar. Dr Kamaljit Singh, Reader, Panjab University, was the resource person, Dr Karam Jit Singh delivered a comprehensive talk on the subject ‘Balanced Score Card,’ a contemporary in strategic planning. The postgraduate students of the department interacted with the resource person. |

Chandigarh, January 20 In another match, Divya Sharma got the better off Tarun Kumar 7-5. It could have been anybody’s game at one time when the score stood at 5-5. But it was Divya who ultimately won the match. Ankur Nanda survived the scare of loosing to little known Vinay Arora. At one stage, Vinay was leading 4-1 but soon Ankur took control of the game and clinched the match 7-5. In last encounter of the day, Sumit Talwar beat Satnam Singh 7-4. |

Devratt shines in Berkeley cricket tourney
Panchkula, January 20 After winning the toss, Bhavan Vidyala elected to bat first. Devratt Sharma and Varun Kaushal opened the innings but Varun was brilliantly caught and bowled by Rohan Mahendru on a slow delivery. Further damage was done due to introduction of spin bowling by Bhavuk (4 for 47). Harpreet Mander, Tushar Pascrija, Rahul Manchanda and Madhur Sodhi were dismissed by him. The scoreboard was reading 96 for 5 in 8 overs. Skipper Naman Prashar joined the company of Devratt Sharma and they both were involved in a century partnership and Bhavan Vidyalaya scored 242 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. Chasing a huge target, Bhavan Vidyalaya (juniors) lost 2 quick wickets in th first 3 overs of their innings to Varun Kaushal. Paras Luthra (35), Divyan Puri (31) and Bhavuk (30) gave some respectability to the total and the innings ended at 122 runs in 16 overs. GGD SD win yoga championship
Chandigarh, January 20 DAV College, Abohar, bagged the second place with a score of 394/500. DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh (362.5/500) and SGGS College, Sector 26, Chandigarh (233/500 ), secured the third and fourth places, respectively. However, Manjit of the GGD SD College-32 won top honours in the all-round individual championship securing 86/100 points. Dalip of DAV College, Abohar, bagged the second place with 86/100 points and Ravinder of GGD SD College-32 got 82/100 points to secure the third position. Basketball: Khalsa College, Garhdiwala, won the Panjab University Basketball (Men) B-Division Championship 2006-07 defeating S.A. College of Commerce and Management, Ludhiana. The score stood at 38-18 Table Tennis: GHGH Khalsa College of Education, Sidhwan Khurd, won the Panjab University Table Tennis (Women) B division championship defeating DAV College of Education, Abohar, 3-1.
