PAU sports meet from Feb 23
Ludhiana, January 30 The Dean, College of Basic Sciences and Humanities, and Director, Students Welfare, Dr Tejwant Singh, presided over the meeting of the working committee of the meet today. He said around 1,550 players of 38 agricultural universities from all over the country would participate in the meet. The Director-General, ICAR, Dr Mangla Rai, has been invited to inaugurate the meet, while the PAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr K.S. Aulakh, will preside over the inaugural The PAU Deputy Director (Sports) and hockey Olympian, Mr Ramandeep Singh Grewal, said there would athletics (men and women), volleyball (men and women), handball (men), basketball (men), lawn tennis and badminton (men) and table tennis (men and women) events. He also added that a special cultural programme would be presented to entertain the players on February 26.
Rajinder pockets prize of Rs 1.35 lakh
Ludhiana, January 30 Rajinder Kaur, who already has a number of medals in her kitty, added another feather in her cap by winning top honours in this prestigious tournament in which as many as 18 teams from across the country took part. She emerged triumphant in the 70 km road race massed start and pocketed a cash prize of Rs 1.35 lakh for her stupendous performance. Ms Manju Chawla, Principal of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Gujarkhan Campus, congratulated Rajinder Kaur and her coach, Ms Harjinder Kaur, for bringing fame to the college. She also wished Rajinder Kaur the best of luck for the forthcoming National Games to be held in Assam.

Ludhiana, January 30 AD College won the toss and scored 174 runs for eight wickets. Government College, Zira, achieved the target, losing six wickets in 32.5 overs. |
