Blistering knocks by opener Jaipal Singh (69 runs from 47 balls) and skipper Kamaleshwar (44 runs from 16 balls) enabled The Indian Express to win the inaugural match of the Airtel- Chandigarh Press Club Inter-Media Cricket Tournament against Chandigarh Broadcasters-XI at St. John's Secondary School, Sector 26 here today. With this win the team has entered semi final.
Put in to bat first, The Indian Express batsmen made 198 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs. After losing the wicket of Virender Bhatia (15) at 35, The Indian Express did not give any chance to their rivals to stop the flow of runs. For the Broadcasters-XI, Munish took 2 wickets, while Virender and Vikas scalped one each.
Chasing the target, Broadcasters-XI was never in the game. Losing wickets at regular intervals, they could make only 123 for 9 in 20 overs. Jatin was the top scorer with 29 while Rohit (13), Virender (12) and Rakesh (12) were the other batsmen, who reached double figures. Virender took three wickets with his off-spin.
