Patiala, February 4
A central leader, a Chief Minister and a former Chief Minister were all in the hometown of Capt Amarinder Singh today. Two of them canvassed at various venues in the city while the third reviewed arrangements for the visit of the Prime Minister on February 6.

To give an impetus to the campaign of Mr H.S Tohra, SAD candidate from Dakala, former Haryana Chief Minister O.P Chautala addressed a rally at Rama Nagar.

He said the SAD chief, Mr Parkash Singh Badal, during his tenure as Chief Minister, had started various welfare schemes for the poor which, however, were discontinued by the Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda addressed a rally in Tripuri township in the Samana Assembly segment from where Mr Brahm Mohindra is contesting as the Congress candidate.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Hooda said it was the Congress alone which could take Punjab on the road to development. Taking potshots at Mr O.P. Chautala, he said the former Chief Minister had proved to be a disaster at the hustings with his party, the INLD, completely wiped out. He said as such Mr Chautala had no moral right to campaign in Punjab.

Union Power Minister Shushil Kumar Shinde, too, was in town to review arrangements for the Prime Minister's rally slated at the Polo Ground on February 6.
