1 dies, 10 hurt in J&K blast

Srinagar, February 4
A militant and another person were killed and 10 others were wounded in Jammu and Kashmir overnight.
An official spokesman said Tavqir Ahmad Dar, a resident of Baitengo, was carrying a hand grenade which exploded in his hand at Court Road in Anantnag, about 50 km from here in South Kashmir this afternoon.

Tavqir and 10 others were injured in the blast. The injured were admitted to different hospitals. Tavqir later died.

Militants shot at and injured Zahoor Ahmed, alias Jana, at Khanyar Chowk in the downtown city this afternoon. Jana, a former militant, allegedly working with the security forces, later succumbed to his injuries in the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) at Soura. — UNI
