DAV students hold audience spellbound

Ludhiana, February 13
The annual function of DAV Public School, Sarabha Nagar Extension, Ludhiana, organised yesterday at the auditorium of DAV School, BRS Nagar, was a show of excellence where students performed at their best.

Dr V.K. Sharma, Registrar, PAU, Ludhiana, was the chief guest, Ms P.P. Sharma, Principal, HMV Jalandhar, Chairman of LMC, Mr R.S. Patial, and other dignitaries attended the function.

About 400 students of Classes 1 to VII participated in the function.

The function started with Ganesh vandana. A dance drama based on the life of Lord rama and Krishna, an English play “King Thrushbeard”, puppet dance, western dance and qawwali left the audience spellbound. The English and Hindi choreography laid stress on eradication of various social evils.

The fast beats of dhol entwined by foot tapping Malwai giddha by boys enthralled the audience. Mr Patial proposed a vote of thanks and the function concluded with the National Anthem.

Farewell function

Students of Class XII of BCM Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh Road, were bidden farewell by the school management, staff members and junior students at a function held here yesterday.

The programme started with lighting of the lamp. Students of Class XI put up a beautiful cultural programme for the seniors. The seniors, in turn, presented a few items.

The outgoing class presented a token of love and gratitude to the staff members. Thereafter, students had fun playing games and enjoyed a sumptuous lunch.

The function was attended by Mr Kushwinder Singh, Principal, BCM College of Education, the manager, Mr S.K. Mehta and his wife.

GADVASU to organise animal fair

Ludhiana, February 13
Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) will organise an animal husbandry fair on March 17 and 18 in Ludhiana.

During the fair, an industrial exhibition related to veterinary, animal sciences, dairies, poultry, fisheries and other allied fields will be organised.

Various organisations linked with animal feed production, pharmaceuticals, animal germplasm, animal farm machinery, dairy technology, meat technology, fodder production and animal husbandry will participate in the fair.

The exhibition will be put up adjacent to the exhibitions of different departments of GADVASU.

Keeping in view the importance of livestock and its contribution to gross state domestic product (GSDP) and to stress the diversification in agriculture, GADVASU will also participate and collaborate in the regional kisan melas organised by the PAU in different regions.

Seminar on female foeticide

Ludhiana, February 13
Life line Hospital and the Department of Health and Family Welfare are jointly organising a free family planning (tubectomy) camp at Lifeline Hospital on Gill Road here on February 15.

The camp will be held under the supervision of Dr Yashpal Singla, Civil Surgeon and the team of doctors at the camp will be led by Dr K.S. Dhaliwal, SMO, Malaudh and Dr Reena Sandhu, District Family Welfare Officer.

According to Dr R.S. Maheshwari, the health department will distribute free medicines, besides cash incentives to the operated cases as well as to the motivators. Shawls will be given to the operated cases by the Lifeline Hospital.

To coincide with the free tubectomy camp, a seminar and poster competition on female foeticide will also be organised. Students of BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, BCM Senior Secondary School, DAV Public School, Springdale Senior Secondary School, KVM School, St. Thomas School, USPC Jain Public School, Wylie Memorial School, PS Khalsa Senior Secondary School will be participating in the poster making competition. The winners will be awarded cash prize.
