German doctor performs hip-joint surgery Chandigarh, February 17 Dr Jens was in the city to perform a hip-replacement surgery on a middle-aged women at the PGI. The surgery was performed by Dr Jens with the assistance of Prof S.S. Gill, Head of the Department of Orthopaedics, and Prof Raj Bahadur, Additional Medical Superintendent of the PGI, here today. While interacting with mediapersons, Dr Jens claimed that the hip-replacement surgery using a new advanced implant was performed for the first time in the PGI. The implant had been specifically designed to preserve bone and soft tissue by Dr Francesco Saverio Santori, an Italian specialist orthopaedic surgeon. It minimises muscle and tissue damage during a replacement procedure. Dr S.S. Gill said since the size of the implant is smaller than other implants, so more bone can be preserved. The design helps the implant achieve a more natural, anatomically correct distribution of weight to the thigh bone. |

In the end, the Press Club-XI managed just 84 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. The highlight of the chase was the fact that five batsmen were run out. Pradeep was adjudged the man of the match for his unbeaten knock. Earlier, in the first match of the day, Dainik Bhaskar were made to work hard for victory by the Times of India. However, the introduction of spinners into the attack proved to a masterstroke by the Dainik Bhaskar captain Kewal Saini, with off-spinner Sanjeev Mahajan taking two quick wickets, while Ajay took three wickets in his quota of four overs.
