IT raids at 500 places

Mumbai, February 22
The Income Tax Department today conducted raids at 500 locations in the country, including 40 in Mumbai, with the targets being doctors, lawyers, builders and other professionals for possible income tax evasion.

“The Income Tax Department today conducted raids on several professionals and service providers here,” senior officials said.

“The raids were still on and further details are awaited,” they said. The raids, which began this morning, were carried out on builders, doctors, interior designers, advertisement agencies among others, DG (Investigation) S.S.N. Moorthy said here today. — PTI
