Meryl doesn’t worry about looks

Oscar winner Meryl Streep insists that the last thing she has to thank for her successful acting career, is her looks. The Devil Wears Prada star insists that the worst thing an actress can do is worry about her looks, for then she falls into a "horrible, horrible trap" of concentrating more on appearance and less on performance.

"For an actress, worrying about appearance is a horrible, horrible trap," Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.

Streep insists that the "most liberating" step she took early on in her career was to stop bothering about the way she looked, and instead concentrate on the way she acted.

"I think the most liberating thing I did early on was to free myself from any concern with my looks," she said.

The actress revealed that as a youngster in the movie biz, her confidence in her looks was absolutely zero — something that still makes her feel like a "character actress".

"I didn’t have confidence in my beauty when I was young. I felt like a character actress and I still do," Streep said. — ANI
