PAU Kisan Club meeting tomorrow
Ludhiana February 27 Giving this information, Additional Director of Extension Education, Dr S. P. Mehra said the Director of Extension Education, Dr N.S.Malhi, would describe extension activities made by the directorate while Dr H.S.Dhaliwal from the Department of Economics will speak on 'Business Awareness among American Farmers'. Director of Research Dr B.S.Dhillon and Dean, College of Agriculture, Dr G.S.Chahal will highlight the research achievements of the university while Dr Subhashini Verma will speak on maintenance of diet to control anaemia and Dr Ramandeep Singh Jassal will make the farmers aware of the marketing techniques. |
Expressions 2007 at GNIMT
Ludhiana, February 27 "Expressions-2007" comprises of 21 events under cultural, technical, literary and fine arts categories namely Indian song, extempore, collage making, S/W development, computer quiz, flower arrangement, case discussion, sketching, sell it, skit/choreography, logic design, paper presentation, rangoli, giddha, bhangra, debate, debugging, mehndi, web development and fashion show. Around 25 management, technical and engineering colleges from all over Punjab will participate in the event. Noted Punjabi singers and comedy artists will enthrall the audience. Dr Col H.S. Singha, Director, GNIMT, informed the mediapersons that this mega event, which was an endeavour of GNIMTians with support of business houses of Ludhiana, was an annual event being organised for the overall development of the students. |

DIMT invites career experts
Doraha, February 27 The companies that visit DIMT are asked to deliver seminars to the students of BBA, BCA and MBA regarding their professional careers. Ramanjit Singh,CEO, Little Bee Impex, Doraha addressed the students of MBA IInd and IVth semesters regarding career option. He informed that the service sectors like banking, securities, logistics, retail etc were booming and providing opportunities to management graduates with handsome salary packages. The institute had also invited Vishal Pathania from Kangroo studies Pvt Ltd, Chandigarh, for guiding the students for persuing higher studies in foreign universities. He informed the students regarding opportunities available for higher studies in foreign Universities with total expenditure details. Gursimran Bajaj, zonal head, RELIGARE (a Ranbaxy Company) while addressing the management students opined that all the sectors of Indian Economy were growing, especially the financial sector. The Director of the Institute, Dr R.K. Lekhi, further informed that the institute had formed a special cell comprising Supreet Kaur and V.I. Rai for careers and courses to guide students of 10+2. They had invited experts from various business houses to interact with students and were planning to invite other similar institutions to participation such programmes. |

Book exhibition begins
Ludhiana, February 27 The VC visited various stalls and showed keen interest in books on recent developments in the area of veterinary sciences, fisheries and allied sciences. He said literature was very important for teachers and scientists since everything was fast changing and updating was necessary for all. Fifteen leading publishers and distributors of North India, including nine from Delhi, three from Ludhiana, one each from Lucknow, Dehra Dun and Rohtak, put up their stalls and displayed books on different disciplines of veterinary sciences, fisheries and allied fields. University librarian Dr P.K. Trehan said the exhibition was organised to make on-the-spot selection of books for the university library and create friendly relationships between reader and books. The dean of the College of Veterinary Science, Dr Simrat Sagar Singh, the dean of Postgraduate Studies, Dr S.K. Jand, the director of Extension Education, Dr O.S. Parmar, heads of the departments, faculty members and students in large number visited the exhibition. The exhibition will be open for all those interested in seeking update literature available in the market. |

Students learn about healthy living without medicines
Ludhiana, February 27 Principal of the college Harvinder Kaur Toor introduced the subject and explained the importance of naturopathy with reference to healthy living without medicines. Naturopath S.R. Mittal conducted the morning session. Some yogic exercises were demonstrated and technical points were explained along with benefits of yogasan, pranayam and food therapy. Importance of fasting was explained to the students. Treatments of diabetes, heart disease etc given at various naturopathy centres were also exhibited. Various herbs, including kari patta, asparagus, amla, were displayed and their uses were explained. Breakfast of sprouted pulses with digestive chatni and fruits was served. Benefits of wheat grass were explained and wheat grass juice was served. The students appreciated the presentations. Lunch, prepared according to naturopathy, was served to students. Organically grown wheat flour was used for preparation of rotis with green vegetables. In the afternoon session, Dr R. Vatasyan, MD in Ayurveda, addressed the students and gave tips explaining basic principles of Ayurveda that laid the foundation of good health, good thinking and good habits. Dr Beni Parshad, father of Ayurveda in Punjab and devoted social worker, gave a number of tips to students on maintaining healthy body, increasing height, reducing body weight, improving memory and solving problems of acne (pimples) and other skin diseases. He also gave tips for cost-effective and permanent beautification of physical appearance without side effects. Dr S.P. Vasudeva of Deepak Hospital gave tips on healthy living as per principles of Ayurveda. Mr Mittal mentioned that the science of naturopathy was the dearest to Mahatma Gandhi who wanted to spread it throughout the country. He also wanted to establish a university of the science of naturopathy in India. All his dreams remained unfulfilled even when country was governed by Gandhian personalities. This programme was sponsored by the National Institute of Naturopathy, Pune, and was further supported by United India Insurance Company as well as National Insurance Company and other social institutions. It was organised by the Nature Cure Education Trust, Ludhiana. |
