Results not a referendum: PM New Delhi, February 27 "There is no question of referendum against the Central government. It has no bearing on the Centre," Manmohan Singh said while answering queries from mediapersons in Parliament House. On the Opposition charges of deliberate delay and concealment by government of Quattrocchi's detention in Argentina for 17 days, he said the CBI has been allowed the fullest possible freedom to go about its business and the rule of law will prevail. "I solemnly affirm to the public at large that this government has done nothing wrong." He said issues should be debated and discussed and there is no scope for the type of "halla gulla" that the Opposition has created in the two Houses. "It is not anything that the government has done that should have let the Opposition block the functioning of the Houses," he said. "We are willing to discuss every issue, whether it is Quattrocchi issue or the price rise." Answering a query, he said the government was trying to control inflation. |
