Rainfall: Rain/snow has occurred at most places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Rain/thundershowers have occurred at most places in Punjab. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of precipitation in cm are: Himachal Pradesh: Bhuntar 3, Rampur Bushahar 2 and Berthin, Guler, Ghamroor, Kasol, Pandoh and Sujanpurtira 1 each and Jammu and Kashmir: Banihal and Batote 3 each and Bhaderwah, Jammu, Katra, Kupwara and Pahalgam 1 each.
Temperature: Past 24 hours’ change: The minimum temperatures rose in Haryana, Punjab and west Rajasthan and changed little elsewhere.
Departure: They were appreciably above normal in Haryana and Rajasthan and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 9.0ºC recorded at Amritsar (Punjab).
Forecast valid until the morning of 01st March 2007: Rain/snow will occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain/thundershowers will occur at many places in Haryana, Punjab and north Rajasthan and at a few places in south Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh. Isolated rain/thundershowers are also likely in east Uttar Pradesh after 24 hours. Isolated hailstorm/thunder squalls are likely in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh. Heavy Rainfall warning: Isolated heavy rain/snow is likely in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir during the next 48 hours.
Outlook for the subsequent two days: Rainfall activity is likely to increase in east Uttar Pradesh and decrease in the rest of the region.
Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of 01st March 2007: Mainly clear sky becoming cloudy with a few spells of rain/thundershowers during night/tomorrow. One or two spells may be accompanied with hailstorm/ thundersqualls. The minimum temperature will be around 15ºC.
