Handsome pay packets in the range of Rs 50 lakh (international offer) and Rs 18 lakh (domestic offer) per annum were offered to the passing out batch of the country's youngest Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore, during placements. "A total of 329 offers were made to 115 students of the eighth batch, which included 12 international offers and an average salary of Rs 12 lakhs per annum — an increase of 45 per cent over last year," IIM director S.P. Parashar told newsmen recently. However, the Director did not disclose the name of the company and the highest salary offered by it to the student to avoid any untoward situation as decided by the directors of all the IIM's. He said 67 companies participated in the placement process and among which 29 took part for the first time. On an average 2.8 jobs were offered per student during the placement. "The most satisfying aspect of the placement process was that 25 per cent of the batch has been placed in consulting firms of international repute," Parashar said. In the IT sector, besides Oracle, Capgemini, Headstrong, Cognizant, IBM, Tech Mahindra and Covansys — Infosys also came back to the campus with an international offer of US $ 110,000 per annum, he added. Meanwhile, 21 students of the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM-K), have bagged foreign job offers this year, with the highest being USD 1.10 lakh (approx Rs 49.5 lakh) per annum. According to an IIM(K) release, the students have bagged offers for jobs in the US, Europe and West Asia in the campus recruitment and the average salary offered is USD 85,000. The highest international offer during the previous year was USD 70,000 (approx Rs 31.5 lakh). The average domestic salary had also increased from Rs 9.02 lakh during the previous year to Rs 11.76 lakh this year, marking an increase of over 30 per cent, it said. The highest domestic pay, which was Rs 16.67 lakh per annum last year, has gone up to Rs 22 lakh this year, registering an increase of almost 32 per cent. About 75 per cent of the batch has secured jobs with remuneration above Rs 10 lakh with 33 students bagging offers of more than Rs 15 lakh. Infosys, Wipro, Patni Computers, Cognizant and the RPG Group are some of the companies that have offered jobs to the students this year. In all, 34 new
companies, including McKinsey, KPMG, Accenture Business Consulting,
Bank of America, JP Morgan, HSBC, Goldman Sachs, Yes Bank, Google,
Yahoo, Colgate-Palmolive and Cadbury, have come to recruit students
