Seminar on women power
Raikot, March 9 The SMO, Mehal Kalan, Barnala, Dr N.K. Kansal, who was the chief guest, urged the youngsters to contribute in curbing the injustice towards women. He called upon the women to empower themselves by acquiring eduacational and professional skills. He stressed that only education would improve the status of women in the society. He was honoured by Dr A.K. Banerjee, chairman, Bed College. Dr Madhu Meeta Banerjee, reader in pharmacology, JCD Dental College, also presented her views on ‘Role of Women in Promoting Peace’, ‘Female Foeticide’ and ‘Legal Rights of Women’. |

Gurbachan Jagat, retired chairman, Union Public Service Commission, was the chief guest. Principal Charanjit Kaur Mahal in her welcome address highlighted the achievements of college in various academic, sports and extra curricular activities. She said during the previous academic year, the college students bagged 44 top ten positions in various Panjab University examinations. In his keynote address Jagat called upon students to prepare them to face the challenges of post-academic life. Three staff members Dr Jaskirat Kaur, microbiology lecturer, Surinder Pal Singh, physics lecturer and Jaspreet Kaur, English lecturer, were awarded mementoes and appreciation certificates for their contribution to the cause of education. Gurbir Singh, president, Guru Nanak Education Trust, congratulated the students on their achievements and encouraged them to develop a true learning spirit in them. The department of sociology of Ramgarhia Girls College, Miller Ganj, Ludhiana, organised an extension lecture on “introduction to sociology” here today. Dr Kiranpreet Kaur, PU, Chandigarh, was the resource person. Gursharan Kaur, head, sociology department, accorded the honourable guest a warm welcome. While talking to the students, Dr Kiranpreet Kaur acquainted the students with various terms used in
sociology. She talked about the importance of sociology in our life. She apprised the students of the attributes of ethological works. She threw light on research methodology also. An interactive session was held in which Dr Kiranpreet Kaur answered various queries of the students. Besides this extension lecture, a seminar was held on ‘yoga and meditation’ by the Department of Cosmetology. Harmit Singh, in charge, public relations and Sukhminder Singh, vice-president, Pitanjali Yog Samiti,
Ludhiana, were the resource persons. They highlighted the need and importance of yoga in life and meditation, which helps one get rid of depression and hypertension. The programme culminated with the vote of thanks. Seminar at GGN Khalsa College
A seminar was held at GGN Khalsa College, Civil Lines, on the topic corporate governance by Mr Subhash Jain, secretary, District Taxation Bar Association, Ludhiana. College principal Tarlochan Singh welcomed him. The emphasis was on the contemporary topic of independent directors. Corporate governance was the integral part of every organisation. He also threw light on the corporate disclosures mandatory for companies. It was a participative interaction between the M.Com students of and Mr Jain where the students gained an insight into the role of independent directors in the company. The professors of postgraduate department of commerce organised this seminar. Dr Sukhdev Singh, Profs Paramjeet Singh, Jatinder Kapoor, Deepak Walia, Dr Gurpreet Singh, Jaspreet Kaur, Rajeev Kaira and Gurjeet Kaur attended this seminar. Seminar on student empowerment
Partap College of Education, Ludhiana, in collaboration with ICFAI National College, organised a workshop on ‘student empowerment’. In this workshop, the students were given necessary tips regarding preparation for examinations. The solutions to the problem of ‘examination phobia’ and how to be an achiever in the exams were the highlighted at this workshop. Kapil and Siniran from ICFAI National College were welcomed by students of the college. In his presentation, Kapil told the students about ‘A to Z’ of achieving one’s dreams. Among the various tips he gave to the would-be teachers were - avoid negative thinking sources, keep trying, practice hard, quitters never win, always strike a fair deal etc. The students were also told about time management. The lecture was followed by question - answer session in which the students cleared their doubts. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks. |
