Indian docs win legal battle

London, March 9
Indian doctors have won a legal battle with the British government agreeing to withdraw a "discriminatory clause" which would have excluded them from appointment process if they did not have visas beyond August 1, 2007.

As the judge in the High Court of Justice took up for hearing the application filed by the British Association for People of Indian Origin (BAPIO) for a judicial review, the secretary of state's counsel requested a brief adjournment. The BAPIO was then informed that the secretary of state was prepared to concede. — PTI
