Three killed: Three persons were killed in separate road accidents in Hoshiarpur during last 24 hours. Balwinder Singh of Mustfabad (Kapurthala) died on the spot when some unknown vehicle hit him near Lamin Pind.
Mobile snatched: Two unidentified youths stole Rs 1,000 cash and snatched a mobile handset from Gurdev Chand of Rurki Khaus near Rampur Bilron village on Wednesday. A case under Sections 382 and 34 of the IPC has been registered.

paid: The literates who are real gems may perish physically but remain in the hearts of the people forever, said Barjinder Bedi, a resident of Canada, who came to pay tributes to Amarjit Verma, lecturer in English of L.R.D.A.V. College, on his first death anniversary organised by Bedi at the premises of Officer's Club here on Wednesday. Verma brought glory to the institution as the dramas, gazals directed by him were declared the best in the various youth festivals. Wife Sudarshan Verma, Ish and Manish, daughter and son of Verma, were also present among the others.

held: Sukhwinder Singh, alias, Sony of Kacha Malak Jagraon was arrested from Jhansi Rani Chowk, Jagraon by the local police during patrolling and recovered a knife from his
possession. The police has registered a case under Sections 25, 54, 59 of the Arms Act.

Migrant murdered: Puran Yadav, a migrant from Bihar, was allegedly murdered by one Jagdish
Gopa, a resident of Uttrakhand in village Dosanjh near Jalandhar. According to Goraya police station SHO Parminder Singh, both Gopa and Yadav were drinking at former’s house in Dosanjh on the night of Tuesday. An altercation took place and Gopa hit Yadav on his head with a lathi. Later he alongwith his wife Rajni threw him outside their house.

FAMILY PLANNING: A family planning fortnight is under way at the
post-partum (family welfare) unit of the Rajindra Hospital since March 24. Female tubectomy and male scalpel vasectomy operations are being done by an experienced team of doctors during the fortnight.

Missing: Senior advocate of civil court, Samrala, Karam Singh Dhaliwal has been missing since Wednesday. His car was found on Sirhind Canal near Dhande village. The local police has been informed and many persons of the area are trying to trace him in the Sirhind Canal.
