Free medical camp held

Ludhiana, March 30
A general medical checkup camp was organised at SNS Pahwa Charitable Hospital to mark the 34th foundation day here today. A team of doctors led by Surinder Singh examined about a 1000 patients. Other doctors, included S.K. Chopra, J.S. Chugh, Bhupinder Serra, and Rajesh Kumar Bansal.

Besides free medicines, free tests like HB, blood sugar, blood grouping, urine, ECG, X-ray were also carried out. Free vaccination for DPT, polio, measles and hepatitis B was given to the children.

The hospital was established in 1973 as 150 bedded multi-specialty charitable hospital. It is managed and run by Avery Group of Industries, Ludhiana.

Seminar for AIDS awareness

Mandi Gobindgarh, March 30
Desh Bhagat Institute of Management & Computer Sciences, Mandi Gobindgarh held an HIV/AIDS awareness seminar under aegis of the Punjab State Aids Control Society, Chandigarh. Daler Singh Multani, joint director (A&T) and Prem Vij, documentation and publication officer were the keynote speakers.

Addressing the students, Multani said that this disease could be acquired through multiple sex partners, blood transfusion or by using contaminated syrings in hospitals. He pointed out that there are about 6000 HIV positive/AIDS patients in the state. — OC
