Book released: Shiromani Patrkar Gurbax Singh Banuana released ‘Toofan ton pehilan’, a book of Punjabi Tribune journalist Devinder Pal at Desh Bhagat Yadgaar Hall here on Saturday. The book is a compilation of Devinder’s selected articles written over a span of 11 years. The occasion marked a hard-biting discussion on several issues raised in the book.
Marathon: The Jalandhar Marathon Rally Sports Society will organise a marathon in the city on April 15. The 8-km race will start at 7.30am from Sain Dass Senior
Secondary School, near Patel Chowk. According to Ashok Kalra, one of the organisers of the race, “Flying Sikh” Milka Singh will be the chief guest, while ADGP Rajan Gupta the guest of honour. The participants will be given certificates, besides special prizes.
One held: Bhupinder Singh of Hoshiarpur was arrested on Saturday for car theft. Police recovered a stolen Tata Sumo from him. He confessed during preliminary interrogation of stealing the sumo from a marriage palace in Aurh on March 28.

Farewell party: The management and staff of the Malwa College Bondli-Samrala hosted a farewell party for Mohan Singh Malhans, superintendent and Piara Singh sewadar on Saturday. Mohan Singh Malhans, a renowned Punjabi writer, joined the renowned engineering college at Fatehgarh Sahib after eight years of service. Piara Singh retired after 33 years service in the
college.
