Succumbing to pressure by parents, the Chandigarh administration has decided to start only one Smart section for Class IX in each of the four schools selected earlier for the Smart School project. The schools are located in Sectors 16, 19, 40 and 33.

A 25-year-old teacher has slapped rape charges against a former student. Acting on the complaint, the police has booked Ashish Tomar, a resident of Sirmaur in Himachal, for allegedly raping his teacher over five years on the pretext of marrying her.
