In an abject case of lawlessness and goondaism, two persons allegedly threw a youth in front of a speeding bus after beating him when the victim reportedly dared to prevent them from teasing his sister and wife last evening in Goindwal village near Raikot.

Confusion over theme of World Health Day

The Union government having failed to communicate the theme of the year on the celebration of World Health Day to the state health department, various constituents of the health and family welfare department have been asked to adopt the subject adopted by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Probably for the first time in last so many years the elections for various posts of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) are going to be keenly contested. Although incumbent president Gursharan Singh has opted out of the race, he has been actively campaigning for his group that includes B.S. Sekhon for the post of president, Davinder Walia for the post of secretary, Rakesh Aggarwal and Naveen Sikka.

2 held with 7,500 pirated CDs, DVDs
Ludhiana, April 7
The Kotwali police today made a rich haul of pirated CDs/DVDs by seizing 7500 discs of new and old English and Hindi movies from two shops in the Bhadaur House market. Nearly 3,000 of the seized discs were porn movies. The movies were seized on the complaint of Shemaroo Movies Ltd. DSP Varinder Singh Brar told reporters this afternoon that this was the biggest recovery of pirated movies in the recent past. Two persons have been arrested for indulging in the illegal trade.

Govt harassing Cong workers: Bhattal
Jagraon, April 7
Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, leader of the Congress Legislative Party in the state Assembly, while on the way from Ludhiana to Moga today addressed a gathering of Congress workers near the Punjab State Electricity Board here. Gurdeep Singh Bhaini, local Congress MLA, and Darshan Singh Brar, Congress MLA Bagha Purana, were also present.

Three held for snatching
