Eve teasing: No more subways in Delhi New Delhi, April 13 “No more subways will be constructed in Delhi in view of the rising incidents of eve teasing in various subways. Henceforth, only foot over-bridges will be built in the city,” the Chief Minister said in reply to a question by Brahm Pal of the Congress asking for the details on the number of eve teasing cases in various subways of Delhi and measures adopted by the government to check these cases in future. The Chief Minister said only if absolutely necessary, construction of a subway be considered, that too after taking into consideration the law and order situation in the area. To Brahm Pal’s query on details of the number of eve teasing cases, the Chief Minister said information in this regard was still being collected. To another question, Delhi finance minister A.K. Walia said a board for development of unauthorised colonies was under consideration by the government so that the work being undertaken there was monitored on a daily basis. The House also witnessed a clash between Walia and Ramvir Singh Bidhuri of the NCP when Bidhuri questioned why the Delhi State Industrial Development Corporation, which had demanded Rs 40 crore in March for development work, was refused the same. — UNI |
