Wheat crop gutted

Mandi Ahmedgarh, April 16
Wheat crop in an area of about eight bighas was gutted after fire broke out at Jandali Khurad village near here last evening.

According to Mukesh Kumar Sharma, executive magistrate, the fields belonged to Jagjit Singh, son of Gurcharan Singh and his brother.

The villagers, however, succeeded in controlling the fire with the help of a fire tenders from of Shryans Industries Ltd.

Canadian college team visits BCM school

Ludhiana, April 16
Diane Duchemin and Wendy Gallegos, registrar and international recruitment manager of Humber College, Canada, respectively, along with Col Harjap Singh, director, management and education consultant, CUIC, visited BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, here this morning.

They were accorded a floral welcome by the principal and the school authorities. They observed the working of various sections of the school regarding libraries, computer labs, maths lab, smart class (knowledge centre), language lab, computer staff room, besides senior, junior and kindergarten wings.

The visitors reportedly appreciated the infrastructure and facilities at the school. During an interactive session with students of Class Xl and XII, Wendy apprised them about a wide variety of courses, diploma certificates, apprenticeship and postgraduate programmes as well as bachelor degree courses available at the college. The admission procedure, scholarships, working hours, work placement opportunities, student services and financial assistance at Humber College, Canada.
