Estate office uploads 3,000 case files
Chandigarh, April 19 The data update and putting it on the local area network will enable officials to verify various queries like resumption proceedings, unpaid dues or building violation. Thus, the request of property owners will be dealt with on priority, said assistant estate officer Amit Talwar. A lot of time was being wasted on moving files from one table to another, as dealing hands had to go through each file. It took several days and repeated visits by the applicant to get relevant records. The computerisation will facilitate access to information at the click of the mouse. An effort is being made to put in place a system to monitor the daily progress of the cases. Under this mechanism, no employee will be able to sit on a file for very long. Besides, proceedings of all cases will be fed on the system every day. In the second phase, the process to start online approval of building plans is on the cards. A sum of Rs 16 lakh for renovation of record room has been sanctioned. Also, 32,000 files of the estate office will be put in cabinets on the top floor of the building.
