Workshop on child nutrition begins
Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, April 19
Nutrition has an important bearing on the health of a individual. Unfortunately, most of the times it is the lack of knowledge rather than lack of resources which result in nutritional deficiencies. Experience the world over has shown that following nutritional practices can have a significant effect on the health status of the population, more so for infants and young children.

Keeping this in view, the Breast Feeding Promotion Foundation, in association with the Unicef Marcia Brady Tucker Foundation, USA, and Breast Promotion Network of India, Delhi (BPNI), is organising a three-day workshop at Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) here today.

The objective of this workshop would be to strengthen pre-service training of medical undergraduates so that when they go out in the community, they should be adequately equipped to deal with nutritional problems. Dr Tejinder Singh, professor and head of the Paediatrics Department at CMCH, informed that more than 40 medical teachers from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh were taking part in it.
