Kenyan plane crash: names released

The government today released the names of 14 Indian passengers believed to be on the Kenya Airways flight that crashed in Cameroon with 114 persons aboard.

According to an External Affairs Ministry release, the Indian passengers on the flight from Doula to Nairobi have been identified as Nigli Shirly, Nigili Kewin Joseph J, Kocherry George Joseph, Maria Joseph, Manuel Gracey, Gaur Aman, Prakam Sundaraman, Bhagya Madhusudhan, Poojitha Madhusudhan, Madhusudhan Madhu, Ruby Mary, Shah, Chauhan L S and Gireesan Nalkath.

Mumbai trader among missing in Kenyan crash

Mumbai, May 6
Amol Chauhan, 25, from Mumbai is among the 114 people on board the Kenya Airways flight, which went missing in Cameroon on Saturday. Chauhan is among the board members of the Parle Agro Industries which manufactures biscuits and Bisleri brand of bottled water.

Ramesh Chauhan, chairman, Parle and Amol's uncle told journalists today that the family is still waiting to have news about the disaster. "All we know is that the plane has gone missing," Chauhan told reporters.

Amol was on a business trip to Africa. Reports said his wife was expecting their first child next month. The airliner crashed after taking off from Douala airport in Cameroon on Saturday. Fifteen Indians were said to be on board the airline.

Amol was on a flight to Nairobi from where he was to take a flight home. Several of his relatives have now left for Kenya to obtain further news about Amol.

Amol's father Sharad is the Managing Director of Parle Products. Amol himself is a champion shooter on the pistol and had won two silver medals at the National Games in Guwahati early this year.

Kenyan plane wreckage found

A Kenya Airways plane reported missing on Saturday with 114 persons aboard, was found today in southern Cameroon, the central African country’s state radio said.

The radio interrupted its programming to report the find, but made no mention of casualties or the state of the aircraft.

The plane was found near the village of Awanda, near the town of Mvengue, southwest of the capital Yaounde, the radio said.

The Kenya Airways 737-800 airliner, bound for Nairobi, went missing early yesterday, shortly after it took off from Douala in Cameroon. Local officials could not be reached for immediate comment. — Agencies
