PAU to hold training in Sudhar block

The Department of Extension Education, PAU will organise Village Extension Training (VET) under the Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) programme for the final year students of B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons) from May 18 to 26 in Sudhar block.

This training will provide an opportunity to the students to observe and study social, economic and situational aspects of the rural life and acquire first-hand knowledge of the agricultural and rural development problems of the farmers.

The students will work in 10 villages, namely Sudhar I, Sudhar II, Atiana, Rajoana Khurd, Rajoana Kalan, Heran, Mohi, Saholi, Khadoor and Dhaipai.

Guided by experienced extension scientists, the students will analyse, plan, implement and evaluate various extension projects. Students in a group of eight will work in the selected village, obtain cooperation of the members of village institutions and carry out the educational and training activities regarding grain storage, soil and water sampling, nursery raising and transplanting of paddy, preparation of mineral mixture for dairy animals and rat eradication.

These activities will be carried out by the students through individual contact with the farmers, group meetings, method demonstrations and campaigns.

Spiritual workshop for teachers ends

A three-day spiritual curriculum teacher training workshop organised by Darshan Academy, Ludhiana, concluded here today with activity- based demonstration lesson by the teachers.

Teachers were acquainted with four learning styles, multi-sensory learning, collaborative learning and behaviour management programme, initiated and devised by the academy experts, S.B Singh, education officer, DA, Ludhiana, said teachers should create a welcoming and loving environment to make collaborative learning possible.

R.K Khanna, principal, Darshan Academy, appreciated the efforts put in by his team of teachers to make behavior management programme successful.

Jaswant Singh, H.D Sama and Major J.S Passi were also present.

Professor beating case: Accused gets bail

Ludhiana, May 16
Additional Sessions Judge Gurbir Singh has granted bail to Gurvinder Singh, alias Gurinder, a student of Arya College, allegedly involved in the case of beating Prof Kamal Kishore on the college campus.

Granting the bail, the Judge observed that no useful purupose would be served by detaining the accused in jail till the conclusion of the trial. Following the complainant of the professor who was deputed on examination duty in Arya College, a case was regsitered at Division No: 8 police station on April 28.

He had stated to the police that he had stopped certain students from copying in the examination and later he was beaten up.

The accused has been behind the bars since May 1.

Back from auditions, city students excited about TV show

Ismeet Singh, a student of the local Government College for Boys, Arshpreet Kaur, a final year student of Ramgarhia Girls College, Miller Ganj, and Arvind Dhawal, a young contractor from Kangra, participated in an audition conducted in Delhi on May 1I and 12 for a TV programme called ‘Star Voice of India’.

At a press meeting called by the Sangam Kala Group here today, its president Radhika Jetwani said the Sangam Kala Group had been engaged in the promotion of the interests of artists and nation’s cultural traditions. Vice-president of the group Purva Puri said the group was formed in 1974 by music and art enthusiasts with the main objective of promoting cultural affinity and providing respectable channels to the artists.

The three were a delighted lot. They were excited as the anchor of the show would be Shaan and Gajinder Singh would be the director of the programme. Noted singers Abhijit, Alka Yagnik, Jatin and Lalit and Adesh Srivastava would be the judges.

Ismeet Singh said, “I had a wonderful experience. The judges said I had a soft and silken voice that floats like butter unlike the folk talent from Punjab”. They said, “Your voice is best suited for playback singing”.

Arshpreet was on the top of the world as the judges commented, “Lagta hai human voice of India mil gai”.

“A voice with solid base”, was the comment of the judges for Arvind Dhadwal. These students would compete in the ‘Star Voice of India Competition’ to be telecast shortly.
