Sacred Heart students bring laurels to school

Ludhiana, May 23
Sacred Heart Convent School, Samrala, has once again not only excelled in the ICSE-X examinations, but its students have again topped in the district.

Amanpreet Kaur brought laurels to the school by getting 93.6 per cent marks. Navpreet Singh, who got 91.66 per cent marks, bagged the second position and Surabhi stood third by scoring 91.5 per cent.

Out of 52 students, who appeared for the ICSE examinations, 16 got above 80 per cent marks, 13 got above 70 per cent and four students got more than 90 per cent marks.

The students of Sacred Heart Secondary Convent School, Urban Estate, also brought laurels to the school with 100 per cent result in the ICSE Class X examinations.

Out of 135 students, who appeared for the exams, 118 secured the first division. Three students got above 90 per cent and 30 students scored above 80 per cent marks. Sudeev Grewal topped by securing 92 per cent marks, followed by Gagandeep Kaur scoring 91 per cent and Parneet Kaur getting 90 per cent.

City boy selected in IIM

Aruj Mittal, a student of B. Com III of the A.S. College for Boys, Khanna, has brought laurels to the college by getting admission in the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow.

The principal, Dr R.S. Jhanji, said it was a great moment in the history of the college.

Sibia’s bail plea adjourned

Ludhiana, May 23
The Special Judge, Gurbir Singh, today adjourned the hearing on the bail applications filed by the five accused in the city centre scam including the former chairman of the Improvment Trust Ludhiana, Paramjit Singh Sibia, till May 25.

The hearing was adjourned as Vigilance Bureau officials could not produce the case file concerned before the court.

The Special Prosecutor apprised the Judge that the case file had been sent to the high court, as certain bail applications in this case were also fixed for hearing there.

Bail applications filed the arrested executive officer of the Improvement Trust D. C. Garg, chief engineer Manmohan Singh, anticipatory bail applications of Mansa Bar Association president Vijay Kumar Singla, general manager of Today Homes S. A. H. Naqvi were also adjourned for the same date.

Judicial officers relinquish charge

Jagraon, May 23
A farewell party was arranged by the members of the Bar Association for
Jitender Walia, SDJM, and Gopal Arora, civil judge, junior division, Jagraon, who relinquished charge today. Ashwini Attray, president of the Bar Association, thanked Walia for her co-operation given to the bar members.

Walia has been transferred to Anandpur Sahib and Arora to Kharar. Gurdarshan Kaur from Ludhiana and R.K. Vasishat from Amritsar are likely to take over the charge at Jagraon. — OC
