The maximum temperatures rose appreciably in Jammu and Kashmir, rose in west Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. They were above normal in Himachal Pradesh, below normal in Jammu and Kashmir and normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 43.3°C recorded at Varanasi A.P. (Uttar Pradesh).
