Trehan, Fortis settle dispute
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, May 26
The impasse between Fortis Healthcare managing director Shivinder Mohan Singh and cardiologist Naresh Trehan today culminated in an out-of-court settlement between the two warring factions and a joint statement of “regret by all” at the “misunderstanding”.

At the end of an eight-day-long exchange of bitter and serious allegations and counter-allegations, the two sides finally kissed and made up. In a four-paragraph joint statement, Trehan and Shivinder Mohan Singh explained that the “allegations stand completely and unconditionally withdrawn”.

Fortis operations head Daljit Singh told The Tribune that besides the joint statement “Trehan agreed to withdraw all cases against Fortis and vice-versa.”

The statement, issued on the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre (EHIRC) letterhead, stated that “as a result of a misunderstanding, allegations and accusations were made that are now regretted by all. The last few days saw a disturbed situation caused due to some misunderstanding. These misunderstandings have now been resolved. Consequently, Dr Naresh Trehan will continue with his role as the executive director”.

Last week, Shivinder Mohan Singh removed Trehan as executive director of the EHIRC, citing conflict of interest between the cardiologist’s “self-promoted” Medicity project and the EHIRC as the reason.
