Educational institutes violate directions

Even three years after the implementation of the Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, supply and Distribution) Act, 2003, most of the educational institutions in the area have failed to execute the explicit orders by the district administration asking them to comply with the provisions of the Act.
IMA cautions against smoking

The Ludhiana branch of the Indian Medical Association has cautioned the people against smoking which carries serious health hazards, and can lead to life-threatening diseases like cancer in addition to other diseases of cardio-vascular system and respiratory tract.

In a city with sizeable migrant population, thousands of people continue to live
in slums, that too in completely unhygienic conditions with no body to listen to
their woes. The conditions that these poor people are forced to live in, more
often than not, lead to severe malnutrition, disability, infectious diseases
with the victims not being able to afford treatment even for life-threatening
diseases.
