Kotkapura, May 30
Known as one of the biggest cotton markets of the country, this town today hogged limelight for another reason when its resident, Achin Bansal, topped the Indian institute of technology joint entrance examination (IIT-JEE).

After completing my bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, I will take UPSC civil services examination as I want to join Indian Administrative Services. — Achin Bansal

A positive attitude, preparation without tension, regular hardwork, determination and confidence was the “mantra” for the 17-year-old Achin to achieve success in the examination.

“I am at cloud nine. This happiness has come to me unexpectedly. I was hopeful that I would be among the first 10 successful candidates but I never expected that I would top the prestigious entrance examination,” said Achin, adding that luck has also played a role in his achievement.

Achin, who had been receiving calls from all over the country from friends and kin apart from handling mediapersons since morning, said he would join at IIT, Mumbai, in the computer engineering stream. His sister had been doing bachelor’s degree in IT at Chandigarh.

The Son of eminent doctor of this region Rajinder Kumar, the grand parents of Achin had done a lot for this town by setting up schools, colleges and hospitals. Achin studied up to plus two at the local Sada Ram Bansal Memorial School, which was set up in the memory of his great grandfather by his grandfather and father. He said during vacations, he used to visit Kota city of Rajasthan to get coaching for the test.

“After completing my bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, I will take UPSC civil services examination as I want to join Indian administrative services,” asserts Achin.

Rajinder Bansal and his wife Geeta expressed their happiness over their son’s achievement.
