Bail to Raninder, Raminder New Delhi, May 30 The SLP contended that the high court had given them “blanket bail” and it was granted “without issuing notice” to the prosecution, which was in contravention of the standard legal procedure. It argued that the prosecution was not given notice and time to file its reply, source said. Further, it argued that investigating agencies needed the custody of Raninder Singh and Raminder Singh for questioning as their names had been mentioned by accuse Chetan Gupta, a Delhi businessman, the source said. The SLP filed by Punjab government standing council Kuldip Singh will come up before a vacation Bench on June 4 for hearing. The Vigilance Bureau booked Amarinder Singh and 18 others on March 24 on charges of cheating and corruption concerning the real estate project. The department said Rs 21 crore was transferred to Raninder Singh's account on the day the auction in the project was conducted. The Enforcement Directorate will look into the Hawala transactions and Swiss bank accounts held by several politicians, including Amarinder Singh. |
