Cardiologists root for rapid angioplasty
Mohali, June 10 “With minimum travel time and traffic snarls being almost non-existent, the tricity provides an ideal setting for the rapid angioplasty, which is a more sustainable procedure in dealing with sudden blockage of large artery leading to heart attack than clot-buster drugs”, Dr Harinder K. Bali and Dr G.S Kalra, directors of cardiology, Fortis Hospital, said here. The ideal 90-minute door-to-balloon time gap between the symptoms of a heart attack and angioplasty is achievable provided the cardiac care centre is equipped and mobilised within minutes. With that purpose in mind Dr Bali and Dr Kalra have already formed a four-member team to treat the patients and they were in the process of expanding the team to provide treatment round-the-clock. Dr Bali said the sudden blockage of large artery which supplied blood to heart often put tremendous pressure on heart muscles and response to this dysfunction had to be spontaneous. Angioplasty within the first 90 minutes is most effective in even preventing long term recurrence of the complications, Dr Bali said. As the number of angioplasty procedures, which account for about five per cent of the total heart surgeries, increase, the cost would come down benefiting the common man, the doctors added. |

Sheds under CITCO's
charge
Chandigarh, June 10 Around two months back, the administration had decided to shift the entire property to the estate office, however, nothing has been done on ground. CITCO has wrapped up all its records and in fact prepared the documents for shifting the property to the estate office, but there has been no official communication from the office. A general manager of CITCO said they had prepared copies of a large number of the cases, however, no one from the estate office had either come to claim the papers or sent any formal communication in this regard. The estate office, meanwhile, had raised certain objections regarding the status of the property that posed problems in the transfer of files to the office. “The property under question had been originally given to CITCO on lease. CITCO further leased out the property to industrialists. “One property cannot be leased to two parties. The matter has been forwarded to the administration for a clarification. Necessary amendments will be made within a week,” a senior official said. The property had remained in “illegal” custody of CITCO for nearly three decades before the administration, earlier, this year decided to send the charge and the respective papers to the estate office. An industrialist said, “It is strange that after three decades, the administration suddenly realises that it itself is a party to an illegal activity by ensuring that the charge rests with the estate office. Will anyone’s responsibility be fixed? Will the industrialists be compensated?” While the administration stands to make lakhs and the transfer will be a relief to those in possession of the plot through the general power of attorney, they now stand an easier chance to get the property transferred in their names. |
