Pvt schools should open branches in villages: Gabria
Ludhiana, June 10 He was addressing a function organised to lay a foundation stone of the new branch of Guru Nanak Public School at Birmi village, near here, today. Satguru Jagjit Singh, head of Namdhari Darbar, laid the first brick of the building. Gabria exhorted the managements of the private schools to induce the professional education so that the students could acquire the ability to compete for the jobs. The minister said the schools should lay their main focus to adopt the latest education techniques for the all-round development of the students. He said the government was going to set up new Adarsh Public Schools in each blocks with the latest facilities where free education would be provided to brilliant students belonging to the poor families of the area. Highly appreciating the contribution of the private educational institutions, particularly in the rural areas, Gabria said for the government alone, it was not possible to cater to the need in this field. In the recent past, the private institutions had played a pivotal role in vocationalising the education in the state, he added. He said only because of the good education facilities, students of the vocational institutions were earning a good name at the international levels. The family of the Late Baba Gurmukh Singh, who had launched many an educational institutions in Punjab, was following in his footsteps and making an excellent contribution in improving the standard of education. He advised that the poor students should also be accommodated in the new schools at the concessional fee charges. Others who addressed the function included Ranjodh Singh, president, Ramgarhia Education Society, H S Hanspal and Gurpargat Singh, president, Auto Parts Manufacturers Association. Harjit Singh Grewal, a senior BJP leader, Surinder Singh Namdhari, Jasbir Singh Riyat, president, School Management, Surinder Singh Riyat, director, School Management, and Sohan Singh Goga were also present on this occasion. |

Ludhiana, June 10 Death anniversary observed
To commemorate the eighth death anniversary of Om Parkash Gupta, former MLA and president, S.D.P. Sabha, S.D.P. College and S.D.P Schools, tributes were paid to late Gupta, who was also elected to the Punjab Legislative Assembly thrice from the Ludhiana East constituency in the years 1977, 1980 and 1985. He devoted his life to the dissemination of education and betterment of weaker sections of society. On this occasion, his sons and daughters-in-law paid tributes by garlanding his statue on the S.D.P. College for Women campus along with president Balraj Bhasin. The office- bearers and members of the S.D.P. Sabha, other renowned citizens of Ludhiana and members of the managing committee recalled his services to the nation. Ms S. The 10-day-long hobby classes for children from classes nursery to 9th were organised at Bharatiya Vidya Mandir, Sector 39 here, which concluded on Sunday. More than 170 students participated in different streams.Children learnt pot painting,fabric painting, glass painting, drawing, dance, bhangra, and best out-of-waste material, soft-toy making & computers at the workshop. Teachers guided the kids in various activities. According to the Principal, the main aim behind organising a camp was to let the child gain knowledge through fun activity. The students put up an exhibition of their creations at the conclusion of the camp. Principal of Bhartiya Vidya Mandir School Ranjeet Kaur inaugurated the exhibition. A 15-day summer camp ended at The Little Kingdom Nursery school here on Saturday. This year's theme was "Amazing Space". The little ones were taken on a space mission in a mock rocket to learn about astronauts, comets, stars, planets, the moon and other celestial objects. Summer campers built a space station, investigated the moon phases and cooked delicious chocolate moon rocks and potato asteroids. Children learnt about the solar system and wonders of space through creative arts & crafts, galaxy cooking, music, singing, space mathematics, outdoor activities and experiments. Little Picasso programme, science observations, imaginative play, gardening, nutrition, social graces, recycling and learning games formed an integral part of the programme. The sports unit of the programme included splash pool sessions, dance, yoga, karate and jungle gym sessions. The main objective of the camp was to provide a summer camp experience that will enrich and educate the children.The little Kingdom's core value of learning while having fun was attained through a safe, fun-filled programme that fostered learning in tandem with self-esteem, leadership, social comfort, and peer relationships. For the little ones,the focus was on personality development, vocabulary and language building skills keeping the theme in mind. The camp concluded with an "Out of this World Space" party. The children came dressed as astronauts, aliens, space shuttles, rockets , planets, stars, comets etc and brought with them space cuisine, including alien pods. Darshan Academy, Chandigarh Road, organised a parents' orientation programme for the parents of classes IX, X and XI students here. Its aim was to bring awareness among the parents about study techniques so that they can play an active role in helping their children to cope with stress and channelize their energy in such a way so that they could retain longer what they have learnt and perform the best in the examinations. This programme included time management techniques, developing aptitude for self- study and building up confidence among the students. On this occasion, the students made power point presentation on the concerned topics and also presented a play. R.K Khanna, officiating Principal, interacted with the parents and asked the parents to give maximum time to their children so that they could share their feelings freely with them. Jaswant Singh (coordinator) along with the parents appreciated the efforts taken by the school to conduct such a useful orientation programme and requested the Principal to conduct such programmes in future also. Vedic karamayoga camp
Valedictory function of Vedic karamayoga camp for girls was held in BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar,on Saturday. A.K Dadoo was the chief guest on the occasion, who was given warm welcome. During the camp, a variety of activities were taken up for the personality development of the children which included moral training, cultural activities like dance, music , painting, art and craft, sports activities, yoga and lectures by experts. To add charm and zing to the show on the concluding evening, various items were presented by the campers which made the evening worth remembering. Yogic exercises were performed. Group song and solo dance were some of the musical items which mesmerised the audience. Few campers expressed their views on the experience they had in the camp. 'Thoughts on opportunity' enlightened the audience about the importance of opportunity in life and ways to grab them. A short speech highlighting the importance of Satyarth Parkash in modern day life was also delivered. In Rock 'n' Roll-another Medley dance item with synchronized steps and rhythmic music left the audience spellbound. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest was appreciative of students' performance and also sincere efforts by school authorities to organize such camps and utilize the energy of students in a fruitful way during the summer vacation. The function culminated with a Group Dance 'Barso Re Megha' which made the audience sway. |
