Health camp

The Punjab government would lay stress on education and health benefits for the rural population so that they could take advantage of these schemes. This was stated by Parliamentary secretary Bikramjit Singh Khalsa, MLA, Khanna at Bhari village near here, during free checkup and eye operation camp.

The camp was organised by gram panchayat, Bhari, with active support of Bharti State Bank, Nanowal.

Dr Naresh Chauhan, eye surgeon, examined 200 patients and 35 needy patients out of these would be operated upon at civil hospital, Khamano. — OC

Tejas fashions Coaching Centre's win

Tejas, student of Saraswati Modren School, Hambran road, excelled with bat and ball (35 runs and 5 for 35) and enabled Coaching Centre XI to 5-wicket win against Super Club in the second match of the 11th Chaman Lal Malhotra Cricket Cup Tournament (u-14) being organised by the Ludhiana District Cricket Association on the Arya College ground, here today.

Coaching Centre skipper Tejas won the toss and invited Super Club to bat. In the stipulated 25 overs, Super Club scored 139 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. The main contributors were Abhinav Bhatia (53) and Gurjot Singh (37). Mehrans made 6 while Dhruv and Sidhant scored five runs each.

Right-arm medium pacer Tejas took 5 wickets for 35 runs in five overs while Pritpal grabbed two wickets for 15 runs. Nimit and Rahul scalped one victim each after conceding 27 and 10 runs, respectively.

Coaching Centre XI surpassed Super Club's total after losing five wicktes in 20.2 overs. Tejas top scored with 35 runs, followed by Gurneet who made 30 runs. Nimit and Rahul scored five runs each.

Super Club's Hitesh and Abhinav Bhatia shared the bowling honours. Hitesh claimed three wickets for 33 runs in five overs while Abhinav captured two wickets for 33 runs in as many overs.
