Farm literature must reach rural
areas, says club president
Ludhiana, June 14 The views were expressed by Pavitar Pal Singh Pangli, president, PAU Kisan Club, during an interaction. Pangli said if the Package of Practices for Kharif and Rabi crops and the monthly journal, Changi Kheti, were to be made available in 13000 villages of Punjab, an amount of only Rs 3000 per village would have to be spent. Hence, with a fund of Rs 4 crore, every village state could stay connected with farm literature for a life time. This effort, Pangli said, would expedite the dissemination of agricultural knowledge. The responsibility of providing the literature should be entrusted with Punjab Agricultural University, he added. The environmental and socio-economic complexities, which were an offshoot of agricultural fatigue, could only be countered this way, he observed. Pangli felt that no knowledge resource should remain underutilised for want of proper medium for its dissemination. He said he had also conveyed these suggestions on behalf of the Kisan Club to Manpreet Singh Badal, Finance Minister, Punjab. |
