Non-availability of drugs

Tribune News Service

Ludhiana, June 17
The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Ludhiana, has expressed concern over the non-availability of certain psychotropic drugs which are essential for the treatment of patients.

Dr Arun Mitra, president of the IMA, Ludhiana, today said the association supported the initiative to check the misuse of such drugs in the society. He said the whole process should be streamlined. After the decision of stockists not to keep these medicines, there had been an acute shortage of these medicines in the market.

He suggested that the government must select certain drug stores, where these medicines should be made available on prescription to initially tide over the crises. “In the mean time, the issue must be sorted out with the stockists", he added.
