IMA to hold medical camp on July 1
Ludhiana, June 29 This was stated by IMA president Arun Mitra, while addressing a press conference here yesterday. He said a team of doctors would conduct medical check-ups, especially for diabetes, high blood pressure and cardiac ailments. The camp would be held in collaboration with the Punjab Medical Representatives’ Association. Dr Mitra said the IMA had formulated elaborate plans to observe different health days in a bid to create public awareness about the prevention from seasonal diseases. A massive awareness campaign would be organised soon to caution people against common diseases of the rainy season like diarrhoea, dysentery and dengue fever. Dr Mitra and other functionaries of the IMA made a demand on this occasion that the procedure of holding elections to the Punjab Medical Council by postal ballots should be scrapped immediately and direct voting introduced to avoid any chances of bungling or misappropriation. The IMA further called upon the government to strengthen the health delivery system and take effective measures to prevent people from falling into the hands unqualified persons. |
