Outgrow limited confines of your job
I.M. Soni

Successful people are made — seldom born. They are not any brighter than laggards. Many did not attend good colleges. Nor did they work any harder. They succeeded because, among other things, they worked smarter, and they know how to tap their inner resources. The laggards are not even aware that these resources exist!

If you want to compete in today’s cut-throat (virtual) competitive world, you cannot remain stand-offish and keep your nose clean!

Heed the following.

Show your decision-making ability. A person who is unable to take a firm decision, wavers like a weather-vane, will remain on the periphery, never wining the confidence of his high-ups.

Demonstrate your dependability. Any boss eagerly looks for someone who can share his responsibility, thus reducing his burden. A good subordinate rises to the occasion in times of crisis.

Beyond excelling in these vital spheres, the success-bound boast of their special "skills".

For example, they know more about their organisation or institution than others. In fact, they know something special and extra of which even many insiders do not have any inkling.

As a matter of principle, they have given an understanding to the superiors that are willing to shoulder extra responsibility and load well beyond their normal routine work.

In their performance, they keep themselves in the background, focusing limelight on the boss. They give him credit rather than take it for themselves.

How do these people advance? They are different from slow-trackers in this they get or stay on the road to success.

The display initiative which is like "wings" to the sky of success. In short, they outgrow the limited confines of their job or duty. They identify problem areas, and try to find solutions.

They add value to their work by going beyond their job description. Sometimes surprise authorities by undertaking a bid, bold project which brings applause to the institution. People ask: whose brain-child is this?
