Move to emigrate qualified professionals
Mandi Ahmedgarh, July 11 While talking to Ludhiana Tribune after interacting with parents of prospective students of the institute, Paul and Mitra claimed that the Canadian government had intensified efforts to emigrate qualified professionals from various third world nations. “Since Punjabi youth besides being laborious and conservative have figured higher on the prosperity map, the university authorities in consultation with the chief immigration officer decided to focus its attention on the border state,” both added. Giving the details of the education programme of the university, the authorities revealed that the first year of each degree course would have to be completed at Garcha International Institute. Later, the successful candidates would be transferred to the university campus at Winnipeg. According to the Canadian government’s instructions the students immigrating to Canada could sustain themselves by working 20 hours a week in routine and for full days during the summer vacation. The authorities of University of Manitoba further clarified that the knowledge of the Punjabi language was necessary besides improving the English language through EILTS (International English Language Testing and System) or TOEFL. “Contrary to common belief that the students should need understanding of the English language; knowledge of Punjabi language was of utmost importance,” they said. Paul appreciated the hospitality and broadmindedness of Punjabis. The university offers courses on design in engineering, electrical and computer engineering, thermal sciences, health sciences, creative arts, architecture, business, languages, basic sciences and humanities. The University of Manitoba offers courses in science, agriculture, food science, environment, education, engineering, management, pharmacy, medicine and human ecology. The university also offers postgraduate courses at masters and doctoral level in various faculties, including engineering, the authorities added. Those who secure 70 per cent marks in these courses could start their career anywhere in the world and would get direct visa to Canada, both officials added. Meanwhile, the directors of the institute Jagdish Singh Garcha and Mann Singh Garcha claimed that the organisation was committed to produce engineers and technologists par excellence who were ready to accept challenges and keep pace with the advancement in science and technology. |

KIMT students excel in PTU exam
Ludhiana, July11 Director of the institute R. S. Gupta said today that in BCA VI (final) semester, all except one student passed with distinction by obtaining 79.9 per cent marks. Ambika Marwaha bagged the first position by securing 93.3 per cent marks. Mandeep Kaur obtained second position by securing 90.4 per cent marks, while Simranjit Kaur got third position by securing 87.57 per cent marks. She was closely followed by Parminder Kaur who secured 86.7 per cent marks. The overall pass percentage is 87.5 per cent. Prithipal Singh Grewal, president and Gupta congratulated the teachers, parents and students for their excellent performance. |
