90 doctors attend DMCH meet

Ludhiana, July 11
A conference of the Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society of Northern India, held at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) here today. There were discussions on recent advances in treatment and management of different diseases at the conference.

Nearly 90 delegates from Punjab, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh took part in the symposia, debates and interactive sessions.

Dr Kumkum Avasthi, professor and head of obstetrics and gynaecology at DMCH co-ordinated the activities while Dr Lakhbir Dhaliwal, president of the society and head of obstetrics and gynecology at PGI, presided over the meet which was inaugurated by DMCH principal Dr Daljit Singh.

It was a symposium on "Newer Concepts in Intrauterine Growth Retardation (IUGR) and Management of IUGR Baby". Dr Kumud Gupta, professor and head of gynaecology at IG Medical College, Shimla, Dr Vanita Jain, additional professor of obstetrics and gynecology at PGI, Chandigarh and Dr S. Venkataseshan, assistant professor in the department of paediatrics at PGI Chandigarh shared their experience with the attending delegates.

Dr Kumkum Avasthi and Dr Bishav Mohan, associate professor of cardiology at DMCH, conducted an absorbing and interactive session on “Uterine Artery Embolization (UAE)” procedure.

Fourteen free papers from various hospitals were presented at the end of the session.
