Hard disk sent to forensic lab
Tribune News Service

Bangalore, July 16
The Bangalore police has sent the hard disk recovered from the personal computer of alleged Glasgow bomber Kafeel Ahmed to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Hyderabad and not to the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Thiruvananthapuram, as was being said earlier.

Possible links of the Ahmed brothers with the 2005 shootout at the Indian Institute of Science are also being looked into

City commissioner N. Achuta Rao disclosed this when questioned on the sidelines of a function here today. The commissioner, when asked about reports that the hard disk had been sent to Thiruvananthapuram for analysis, said, “You said this not me”, while referring to news reports appearing in the media on this issue.

Police sources had maintained the disk was being sent to C-DAC but the commissioner said that the CFSL report on the disk was still awaited by the city police.

The commissioner said the city police was examining the Bangalore link to the United Kingdom terror plot in a larger framework. The commissioner said possible links of the Ahmed brothers with the 2005 shootout at the Indian Institute of Science were also being looked into. The shootout case remains unsolved till now.

He said no information had been provided to the Australian authorities as of now because they had not yet officially asked.
