Check female foeticide: Governor

Dehra Dun, July 20
Uttarakhand Governor Sudarshan Agarwal today stressed strict implementation of laws made to prevent female foeticide to remove gender and social inequality.

Addressing the inaugural session of a seminar on female foeticide, organised by the Uttarakhand Chapter of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) at Dehra Dun, the Governor asked MLAs present there to find out data related to sex ratio of their constituencies and work accordingly to prevent female foeticide. He also called for joint action by all sections of society to curb this social ill.

Presiding over the inaugural session, Uttarakhand Chief Minister B.C. Khanduri assured that the state government would do everything to bring down the rate of female foeticide to zero in a stipulated time frame.
